The 400 varieties of cymbidium orchid flourishing in the shade houses at Candle Mountain Horticulture have an enviable view, overlooking the lush rolling landscape of the beautiful Glasshouse Mountains. Cymbidiums are very seasonal flowers – blooming only when the nights become cold in contrast to warm days, their arrival heralds winter for many in Queensland. The farm propagates and raises its own seedlings, which then acclimatise to the Queensland climate – less bud drop, longer vase life. Up to eight weeks vase life, which makes them perfect for corporate work. The beautiful location clearly agrees with the cymbidiums; dense flower spikes are heavy with clusters of perfect waxy blooms, packed snugly side by side. The stems pack snugly into boxes also, for transportation around the country from April to September to delighted customers.
